SULPHUR DETECTIVES MAKE ARRESTS IN STRING OF THEFTS

On Wednesday, June 4, 2008 investigators of the Sulphur Police Detective Division made arrest in multiple thefts of copper air conditioning coils.

From January of this year numerous thefts had occurred in the Sulphur area including Carlyss, McMurry and Patterson Ball Parks. The suspects would take the air condition copper coils from building air conditioning units and sell them at a Lake Charles area recycling center.

According to Sulphur Police Chief Chris Abrahams, Detectives arrested two suspects connected with these thefts. Norman Stark, (pictured left) White Male, Age 26 and Marshel Ellis (right), White Male, Age 23 both of Sulphur.  Stark was charged with two counts of felony theft and Ellis was charged with one count of felony theft. Other charges are possible pending with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Office.

Detectives in another case arrested Michael Menzel Jr., White Male, Age 28 of Sulphur on two counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.  Menzel was booked into the Sulphur City Jail on the charges.
